Contraindications for Waxing
Do not book a waxing service if you:
- have rosacea or very sensitive skin
- have a history of fever blisters or cold sores
- have had a recent chemical peel using glycolic, alpha hydroxy, or salicylic acid
- have recently had microdermabrasion
- use any exfoliating topical medication including: Retin-A, Renova, Tazorac, Differin, Azelex, or other medical peeling agent
- have recently had laser skin treatment or surgical peel
- use hydroquinone for skin lightening
- have used Accutane (isotretinoin) in the last 6 months
- are taking blood-thinning medications
- are taking drugs for autoimmune diseases, including lupus
- are taking prednisone or steroids
- have psoriasis, eczema, or other chronic skin diseases
- have a sunburn
- have pustules or papules in area to be waxed
- have recently had a cosmetic or reconstructive surgery in the last 3 months
- have severe varicose veins
